No one knows how to drive in a gas station parking lot. I sat in my car for ten minutes finishing a phone call before I went into the convenience store, and I almost saw three accidents. I guess as long as they were all close, but not actual collisions, there’s nothing to worry about.

I also got an email today that gave me more of a jump than almost seeing two cars collide in front of me. An email from The Writer magazine. A few weeks ago, I was told that the short story I had submitted to them this time last year was a semifinalist in their Fall Short Story Contest. Today, I got a follow-up email from them.
As soon as an email starts with “Thank you” you know it’s going to be a polite let down. Close, but not quite. But, their feedback was very kind! And very helpful. They want me to tweak the ending of the story, and I think I’ve come up with a way to do that without changing the last sentence, which to me is critical to the story. But I’ll write about that some other time.
